BBQ wins DdB in a close game and stays #1

DdB had climbed to the 3rd spot while BBQ had been 1st since the beginning. Now it was time for these Finns to meet again, last time BBQ won 9-6. BBQ's map was ctf2 (what else) and DdB's ctf3. Both maps were played at 2.0 so pings were just about as low as they can be for these two clans...

ASF beat JAG and are heading for the top 10

ASF played JAG for the 11th spot hoping to get a chance at the top 10.
First was ctf3 on ASF's server. 9-0 to ASF...
Ctf5 was played on TnX. 12-0 to ASF.
Match outcome: ASF v JAG: 21-0...
This was an important victory for ASF as they now have good chances of making the top10.

On its way...
After season-0, won by nAo in December 2000, and the Pre-Season1-Cup, won by TAWM on January 30 2001, we
saw the start of the new Savage CCTF Season yesterday... Season-1 is on its way :)
Warscenery for week-round-1 was Q3CCTF3 'The Dead Zone'...
This season the League is divided into 2 divisions with the following clans:

The Matrix scoreboard

Oke, i have ben asked many times (and i mean MANY) when there will be a new league. Well first of all i think it's much better to play some friendly wars first, because there are some clans who just don't play enough wars to enter a league... BUT... i have made up something else to keep your spirit... a new NQ CTF ladder, or more : a NQ CTF scoreboard. And no, i will not call it the YM ladder (i am not that arrogant...:) but i thought the MATRIX would be a nice name because it is actually a matrix. It's actually a simple principle. The matrix will hold all your scores against each clan you have played
against. The clan who has the most points will be the leader of our scene.

[SS] The Suicide Squad win The Savage Super Sunday Q3CTF Cup...
SS Came through some tough matches to take the cup in what was a very good cup competition again.

Suicide Squad (SS) have perhaps surprisingly won the Savage Super Sunday Q3CTF Cup, beating nEo 5-4 in the final. Considering the level of clans entered into the competition (nEo, IQS, DmN and WC to name a few) i don`t
think that many people would have tipped SS to take the trophy but credit to them and perhaps this signals a resurgence of one of the oldest clans still going.

The final was perhaps one of the most exciting games of CTF we have ever played, versus our old adversaries nEo , on Q3WCTF1. nEo took an early 3-0 lead, it looked all over with 20 minutes to go. However, we struck back with two quick caps in a matter of minutes, the game looked far more open. Then once again nEo capped, 4-2 to them with 10 minutes to go. Then we capped again, with about five minutes to go, setting up a thrilling climax. nEo kept coming at us, muchos credit to them, just 2 minutes to go. Then we grabbed the nEo flag with just a minute to go.... all of us were attacking.... the flag carrier was escorting across mid... and capped with just a matter of seconds remaining.
Into overtime we went, we couldn't believe it, it had looked all over only minutes earlier. 5 minutes into overtime Raoul grabbed the enemy flag, and then nEo called a pause.... we composed ourselves on RW, discussed how we would get the flag man out of the base, and set our plan in action. All of the team piled in with machine guns, gauntlets, anything.... and we got the flag man home... and capped.... and the title was ours....

A busy Week 9, especially on monday, saw the conclusion of most of the games in Div3a and Div3b allthough only one champion decided as Supreme Fraggers pick up the Div3b trophy. Congratulations to them, but as we enter this penultimate week of action there is still all to play for elsewhere.
The Week 10 schedule you will see contains a number of the postponed games from previous weeks.

ASF gets a confortable win over pLt...

Sunday night was important for both clans.. a place near the top 10 would make it a lot easier in the coming weeks. First was ctf3, ASF blue and pLt red. After some chaotic moments ASF managed to pull it home 5-2. Next was ctf5 which looked good for pLt but ASF fought well and had some luck too.. every time pLt managed to overran their base they got pLt's flag too and with some luck always were in the right place in the right time and so pLt couldn't make those three necessary caps. Instead ASF made five caps more and won the whole match 10-3.

The Q2CTF Playoffs:

The date has been set for the 18th of February.
Meaning that the 18th will be the last day of regular matches in the Q2CTF ladder, thereafter 10 teams will move on to
fight in the playoffs. The rules and schematics for the playoffs will be made public soon (around Feb.4).
After the 4th of February teams in the top 10 will no longer be allowed to rest, since there will be some serious competition for the playoff placings.
Stalling will not be allowed in any form, the previous rule of having to report a result within 24 hours after the match does not apply within the two weeks (4th - 18th), instead the result of a match should be reported immediately.

Cup:
The Cup will start next Sunday (11th Feb) for definate now. Sorry for any inconveience but I didn't want to give the players 12 hours notice that the Cup is on. Soz.
Rule change:
Just in case we have teams next week that are on the same points and caps in the Cup, then there will be a replay between those teams (+ 1 other team) asap, with the first to cap deciding the winner.

Ok, as far as I know yesterday evening was the last day in the Cup... I have no clue about who won it yet ;P
Anyway this is what Warfy of clan MEX (mexicans) said on the
mexicans site:
This Cup has been good fun imo, knocking some clans off their high horses, MEX beating SS, SS beating IQS and 7cs beating DMN and then GM beating MEX.

Yesterday was the official opening of the Clanbase Quake 3 Arena Capture the Flag Spring cup. In the upcoming 14 weeks, 48 clans will battle eachother in 183 matches to decide who will become champion of their respective leagues.
