V1.0 Released

Classic CTF version 1.0 has been released.
Many mirrors are up for you to choose from.
While you're downloading check out the new Readme for V1.0.
Make sure you delete your old /cctf folder before installing 1.0 (or you may encounter problems), it is a clean installation.
We are aware Point Release 1.25 was released just a short time earlier.. 1.25 is not compatible with 1.17. You cannot upgrade to 1.25 if you want to play Classic CTF right now. We will release a new beta in the near future that is 1.25 compatible. Server admins, if you are running a CCTF server (or ra3 and any other mod), do NOT upgrade to 1.25 until the MOD supports it.

The v1.0 release of Classic CTF is only days away now. This Friday, you'll get showered with Classic CTF
goodness! We've gotten some early estimations on how big the download will be. Modem users will find this
disheartening, but the release will be between 25 and 40 meg, which has become fairly average among mods these
days. Those are early estimates, and we'll see if we can get you exact weight later this week. Also, there won't be a
smaller upgrade available for people who have the beta already, unfortunately.
The super nailgun. Six rapidly rotating barrels of sharp pointy pain. The classic peice of weaponry dates back to the early Quake era, where men were men, and women were men too, because there was only one player model. The Super Nailgun is a blast to play around with, and it's not nearly as girly as the pink Plasma Gun.

To get rid of spike-cheats and other proxies the CLL decided some weeks ago that everyone participating in a Q2CTF match must use the Xania proxie, the Xania proxie has abilities to check for things like modified player models (spikes) etc...

Once again it's time for idiots to destroy the q2ctf-scene! The guys at the CLL have worked hard and put allot of time and effort to make an excellent league, but even before the league has started the first report of people trying and succeeding to work around xania appears....

The first ladder season (CLL) will come to an end in December 2000. The teams ranked within the top ten will then continue on to fight in the ChampionsLeague (CL), a playoff based system... champions will be the clan that manages to win the final.

I keep getting mail from people who have worked their way around Xania with modelcheats, and that makes me VERY
frustrated. We have put so many hours of our sparetime to make this league, and to make it fair, still there are morons out there trying to cheat their way around it. What the fuck is wrong with you guys? Can't you play with a pure quake, do you really suck so much you need to cheat all the time?
We are in a discussion with Xania crew at the moment, and I really hope they will help us out here. Anyhow, until we have a safe proxy that prevent cheats, we might change the rules a bit. You will be informed either in #thescene or

A few clans dropped by the wayside this week, i've reversed all their scores to default wins to the opposition. It is quite possible a couple more clans will confirm they are dropping before the end of the week, so look out for news of cancelled games.
All tables and results should be up to date by time you read this.

Now, as this map is not symmetrical (the flag areas have a similarish sort of area, but other than that the layouts of the bases, and their entrances, are different) it will be played twice with teams changing colour at half time. So, there is only 1 map to practice for this week, but you will have to know both sides of it.
This map should be in the rotation of the BarrysWorld public CTF servers, or at least votable on them.

With the release of the first non-beta CCTF imminent, i will be contacting all clans who registered an interest in participating in our CCTF league shortly. I am looking for somebody who would be interested in running this league, if you have a keen interest in CCTF and a fair bit of free time and are interested, whilst i cant promise you fame and fortune
we are putting in place a scheme to reward all our admins as much as we can. (For example we currently offer admin-only servers amongst other stuff.)

It was finally time for the finteam to play the NSL-final against Sweden. The maps had been agreed in advance, CTF1 and
CTF2. This time there were no problems with servers, as we agreed to play one map in Sweden, and one in Finland.

NSL Q2CTF Finland wins...

CHSK: Northern Watch
Finland won the NSL tournament versus Sweden. The results was ctf1 8-2, ctf2 6-1 giving a total of 14-3.
Congratulations to the finnish team!
The Fin team member PRAYER said:

We started out on eDome, playing CTF1.
The lineup consisted of Blackstar, ele, Nikodemus, Malle and PRAYER.
Finteam was very lucky as we got the amp and accel in the beginning. That didn't seem to disturb
Sweden at all though, as they capped two times after some minutes of gameplay. But after heavy
struggling on the mid, we finally managed to get a hold of the game and made some successful
attacks. Finteam managed to even it up, 2-2. We were not satisfied with that though, as we
successfully took the quads while ele continuously stealed the flag with his mighty grapple. The caps
started flowing, making it a total score of 8-2 in finteam's favor.
CTF2 Report

Next up was CTF2, on Noll8's server.
Lineup: ele, Furious, Nikodemus, Malle, PRAYER.
This time it was the other way around, Sweden got the amp and doc in the beginning. Finteam took
the first quad but didn't manage to harm anyone with it. Then the focus moved on to the second
quad. Finteam showed its superiority again and got the second quad, but got obliterated in the
enemy base, losing doc and disruptor. After 2 minutes finteam got its first cap, and got the upper
hand. Sweden gave finteam a very hard time anyway, but were losing in caps as the game went on.
At some point Sweden managed to cap once, but that didn't help the overall score. Finteam came
out victorious, winning the map 6-1. The final score was 14-3 in finteam's favor, hurray!
We want to thank the NSL organisators, Baal and Ebola, for making this all possible, and Sweden for
a very good game in the finals without any problems.
